Having a problem with your computer? Bought new software, can't install it? Not sure where you can purchase an item? New member and would like to meet your fellow club members, then come to the Daytime SIG. We meet once a month, in the afternoon. You get to share and hear the latest news in computing hardware and software. Hear all the club announcements. Members try to show you how to use a particular utility, or download a useful program for Windows. Benefit from others' mistakes and experiences. If you're retired, can't manage to get to other SIGs in the evenings or have otherwise time every first Thursday of the month, then you are in good company.
The HOSTS file that is on the Yahoo Group file section is a little out of date and it should not have any file extension. You can obtain a HOSTS file from this site: http://www.mvps.org/winhelp2002/hosts.htm and be sure to remove any file extension. On Windows XP it should go in the C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\Etc folder; and on Windows 98/ME it should be in the C:\Windows folder.
(Discussed at the Daytime SIG on September 13/2005)
